About the Workshop
The film industry is undergoing rapid transformation with the rise of streaming services and changing audience preferences, creating both opportunities and challenges for screenwriters. Screenwriting itself has become a more demanding craft, as writers must be nimble, adaptable, and able to craft relevant and captivating stories that connect with a global market while standing out in a sea of content. Despite the challenges, writing for movies remains a rewarding experience for those who love the art of storytelling and are passionate about bringing their ideas to life on the big screen. The excitement and thrill of seeing a story come to life on the big screen is one of the most rewarding experiences a writer can have.
Though Screenwriting is a hard job, having a sound knowledge of basic principles and techniques of screenwriting and story telling would make the job easier and more interesting. For All those Aspirants who have it in them but unable to put it out, The workshop is a good opportunity to help you and guide you in nurturing your budding creativity and imagination to write great stories. As everyone can accept, A great film is impossible without a great script. And to write a great script you need to train yourself with professionals.

The workshop covers all the fundamentals of Screenwriting and storytelling with interactive sessions and movie examples. At the end of each session, the participant are given some small writing exercises develop their story along with the workshop.

About the instructor
Raj Chanvell
Screenwriter/director, Alumni, FTII
Raj Chavell is a professional screenwriter/director in the Tollywood film Industry. He did his masters in M.A. English literature from Osmania University and his post-grad diploma in Screenplay writing from FTII (Film and Television Institute of India).
With over 10 years of experience in the film and television industry, Mr. Chanvell has a wealth of knowledge and expertise to share. He worked as a story department head for Ushakiran Movies in Ramoji Film City from 2014 to 2018. From reading scripts, listening to narrations, selecting suitable scripts, and working with writers to develop their scripts by providing feedback and guidance, Mr. Chanvell has ample knowledge to share.
He has experience working and writing scripts for various genres, such as dramas and thrillers, and has several of his scripts optioned. He is currently working on an independent feature film.
As a workshop instructor, Mr. Chanvell is passionate about teaching screenwriting, and helping writers of all levels develop their skills. He has a knack for storytelling and understands the elements that make a script compelling and engaging. He also has a deep understanding of the business of screenwriting and can guide how to navigate the industry.

This workshop is for working professionals who want to try their hand at screenwriting and for new writers who would like to make a career in screenwriting and also for screenwriters who want to brush up their basic fundamentals. All participants who are above 18 years can attend the workshop.
The honest answer is NO. No workshop can give you 100% of knowledge because writing is like an ocean. You can only discover it when you start sailing it. What the workshop gives you is the fundamental knowledge you need to kick start writing and it also shows you a professional approach to screenwriting along with a community where you can meet other people with whom you can share and learn and may collaborate if your wavelengths match.
It Depends on the story you are writing and how your story fundamentals are and which approach you are following. If you follow the approach showed in this workshop and if you spend dedicated two hours every, you can finish a script anywhere from 2 months to 4 months.
Yes. Writers Room 101 is a community of screenwriters who are always ready to help you in giving feedback and providing guidance. You can either use Email as a medium to communicate or you can meet in person with the instructors on their available time.
It depends on the quality of your script. The opportunities for writers have opened many fold. Apart from films, now there is OTT, Web Movies, etc. And if you are a dedicated writer, you can also work with Writers Room 101 team in developing screenplays.
